Bulgaarse roos: waarom is rozenolie zo bijzonder voor je huid?

Bulgarian rose: why is rose oil so special for your skin?

The Bulgarian rose is much more than a beautifully scented flower. For generations, it has been used in cosmetics because of its valuable rose oil and its special place within the Bulgarian tradition.

But what makes Bulgarian rose oil so special? And why do you find this ingredient in natural face and body care?

The Bulgarian rose – a special tradition

The Rosa Damascena, also known as the Damask rose, has been grown in Bulgaria for centuries. The Bulgarian Rose Valley in particular is known for the cultivation of these fragrant roses.

The flowers are carefully harvested during the flowering season and processed to obtain the precious essential rose oil. Large quantities of rose petals are required for just a small amount of oil. This makes real rose oil a particularly valuable cosmetic ingredient.

What does rose oil do for the skin?

Bulgarian rose oil is valued in skincare primarily for its nourishing properties.

It is used in formulas that help keep the skin soft, supple, and cared for. In combination with plant-based oils and butters, it is particularly suitable for rich care products for the face, neck, and décolleté.

The pleasant natural rose scent also turns a daily care routine into a special moment of indulgence.

Suitable for dry and sensitive skin

Dry skin often needs richer care that helps it maintain its suppleness.

That is why rose oil is often combined with ingredients such as cocoa butter, shea butter, almond oil, apricot kernel oil, and vitamin E. Together, they form a nourishing base for cosmetics aimed at dry skin in need of care.

For sensitive skin, it remains important to first test a new product on a small patch of skin, as natural ingredients and essential oils can also cause sensitivity in some people.

Rose oil and rose water: what is the difference?

Although both products come from roses, they are not the same.

Rose oil is a concentrated essential oil and is processed in small quantities in cosmetic formulas. Rose water is much lighter and is often used as a toner or refreshing floral water in daily facial care.

They can therefore be used very nicely alongside each other within a skincare routine.

How do you use care products with Bulgarian rose oil?

You can apply a face cream with rose oil to cleansed skin. Distribute a small amount over the face, neck, and décolleté and massage in gently.

A rich, oil-based cream is especially pleasant when your skin needs extra nourishment, for example during colder months or when the skin feels dry.
